In
a deal rumored to be worth around $56 million, American Football team the
Baltimore Ravens have recently agreed a four-year contract extension with tight
end Mark
Andrews, who celebrated his 26th
birthday on the same day as signing the deal.
Seasonal Salary
Mark
Andrews is one of the highest earning tight ends in the league, being paid $14
million per season. He’s behind top earner George Kittle ($15 million per
season) and Travis Kelce ($14.3 million per season). Andrews will receive a
guaranteed $37.6 million – which represents 63% of the deal, according to a
source – and can expect to receive a pay-out of $26.6 million by March 2022.

Mark
Andrews was born September 6th 1995. Before joining the Baltimore
Ravens in 2018 he played college football at Oklahoma. During his time with
Oklahoma he moved to play in the tight end position, having previously played
as a wide receiver.
The
year 2014 saw Andrews as a redshirt and the following year he played in all
thirteen of the team’s games (with one start in 2015); in 2017, he received the
John Mackey Award.
When
Andrews ended his time at Oklahoma to join the Ravens, he left as the receiver
with the sixth most touch-down receptions and the tight end with the most
receiving yards.
In
his time playing for the Ravens, Andrews held the 2019 record for most
touchdown receptions by a tight end for that season, and prior to that, in 2018
he achieved the most reception yards by a tight end during his rookie season.
The
same year also saw him delight fans – including long-time supporter Brandon
Glickstein – by gaining the
accolade of longest regular reception season by a tight end, which stood at 74
yards.
Andrews
has Type 1 diabetes and is a spokesperson for those living with diabetes,
regularly meeting and speaking with young people about ways to cope with and manage
this condition.
The Future
Mark Andrews has joined
fellow Ravens Ronnie Stanley and Marlon Humphrey in signing a multi-million
dollar extension over the past year, and it is highly likely that he will be be
offered a long-term deal with the team.
